The Journey of a Young Explorer

Did You Know?

A recent study by University of Virginia stated, "Particularly remarkable are the positive social effects of Montessori education. Typically the home environment overwhelms all other influences in that area." Not only were five-year-old primary school children better prepared for the "three Rs" at primary level, they also had higher scores in tests of "executive function". This is the ability to adapt to changing and complex problems, and is seen as an indicator of future school and life success.

Why Montessori?
The Montessori Curriculum
Benefits of Our Unique Teaching Method

Montessori has been used for over 100 years in various parts of the world. Developed by Maria Montessori, it is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children. With a STREAM curriculum of Science, Technology, Religious holiday celebrations (Judeo-Christian), pre-engineering, art, and math, our classrooms provide a fun and engaging environment for your child to reach his/her fullest potential.

Gentle Instruction®

Our Gentle Instruction® philosophy sets the tone for a loving experience as we journey towards our mission of inspiring kids and building communities. Teachers use a gentle tone of voice; movements are calm and deliberate; awareness of being a good model is prominent. Hugs are plentiful!

Uniqueness & Individuality

Montessori education recognizes that children learn in different ways, and accommodates all learning styles. Students are also free to learn at their own pace, each advancing through the curriculum as he is ready, guided by the teacher and an individualized learning plan. So a child who likes bugs will be counting bugs, while a child who likes cars will do his math lesson with cars.

Order, Concentration & Independence

Classroom design, materials, and daily routines support the individual’s emerging “self-regulation” (ability to educate one’s self, and to think about what one is learning), toddlers through adolescents. Indeed, children go to the restroom without waiting for the class, and eat a snack when they are hungry.

Community, Social & Interpersonal

Teachers model respect, loving kindness, and a belief in peaceful conflict resolution. The classroom as a community hums with activity, quiet talking between teams working, children moving around as they need, all in harmony. Special class projects, such as Christmas Concert performance, lend the thrill of a big group accomplishment, in front of smiling parents and grandparents to make it extra rewarding!
